Our first sample sale of the year is coming!
Set your alarms for this Thursday, March 23rd at 10am for the first sample sale of the year! It's going to be GOOD! I feel like I always say it's the best sample sale yet - but I truly believe this is the best one yet!! Instead of doing five this year, we are doing fewer and they are all going to be bigger and better. Prices are 30-80% off and most of the pieces you haven't seen before inspired by my latest travels! Be sure to tune in to Instagram all week for some sneak peeks, a chance to tag a friend to get an early access code, and more details. Plus, Brooke will be here on Thursday morning to do a try on of all the pieces!
We booked a very last minute trip to New York this week...
Our girls had spring break this week and we didn't have too much planned. We thought we would do a fun Charlotte spring break tour, but a couple days ago my mom said she could come and watch the girls. We asked all three if they wanted to come to New York with us but they all wanted to stay with my mom. So Bryan and I went on an adventure to do something different that we had never done before! I had recently read about Wild Flower Farms in the Hudson Valley area of Upstate New York and it looked amazing. It's an escape for a lot of people in New York and Connecticut that want to get away from the Hustle and Bustle! If you're looking for a totally relaxing getaway, this would be a great spot. If you are bringing kids, l'd recommend to go in the summer when the outdoor pool is open and they can run around outside!
It falls under the Auberge Resorts Umbrella & just opened in September. We recently stayed at the Stanly Ranch in Napa (this hotel was insanely cool and you can check out more details from that trip here) and it was also an Auberge Hotel & they told us to check out Wildflower Farm since it is on the East Coast. It's a little challenging to get to if you don't live in NYC or surrounding areas. The Uber ride from airport is expensive and 2+ hours depending on traffic but if you take the train from Grand Central it's only $15!
Check the hotel website regularly and if you can go during the week, prices are about half of weekend pricing. I found a great deal for the hotel on the Hotels Tonight app that I've told you guys about before. If you love wine, bring your own. The only wines they offer are from NY (still very good), but if you have a bottle you are saving for a special occasion, bring it. I forgot to ask about corkage fee but you can call hotel to ask. I also always ask for an upgrade when I get to any hotel. They gave us a free upgrade because they weren't at capacity. Sometimes they can upgrade you if they have space and sometimes they can't...never hurts to ask!
They have a beautiful spa - I had a facial at the spa and it was one of the best I've ever had. Ask for Tasha! They use Biologique Recherche products (if you live in Charlotte, this is the same line that Toska carries in her spa.) I love bone broth in the winter and they have the most amazing complimentary bone broth in the spa 24/7. You can use the salt pool and hang out in the spa area even if you aren't getting a spa service done.
The food and service is great, but there is only one restaurant on the property. If you like variety, you might want to go into one of the local towns or The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) is also close to the hotel. Tons of amazing chefs have gone here and you can go there to have a meal from the students. If we stayed two nights, we would have had dinner there. New Paltz is the closest town and it's super cute. Head over there for lunch and rent bikes to explore! If you are a big/bourbon or whiskey fan, Hudson Distillery is a couple minutes away from the property and a fun place to take a tour. The hotel is trying to book more events throughout the week. When we arrived they had a class on flower pressing, a craft cocktail class, and a yoga and Pilates classes during the day. They also have live acoustic music on Thursday nights from 5:30 - 7:30!
Lots of artists and creatives live in the Hudson Valley. It has been on my list of places to visit for a long time because several cool brands I love all come from there...I can now see why they are so inspired - beautiful nature, kind people, lots of art & craft schools, laid-back vibe.
When we woke up the next day we needed a little energy boost so we decided to take the train into the city! You travel the Hudson River for I had never taken a train into Grand Central Station and it was so cool and stunning! I got some work done and met with some of my jewelry vendors while we were there. We stayed at the Dominick Hotel again (if you missed it I shared about it in one of my last blog posts) and bopped around to some of our go-to spots like La Mercerie for lunch and Extra Virgin for dinner.
