I met Miss UVA (a writer for the blog,DC Nearlyweds) last year & let me tell you, Miss UVA also translates to Miss Fabulous….she practically saved my life in all this wedding planning. A week after I got engaged (almost a year ago), Miss UVA handed me her “all-you-need-to-know-about-planning-a-wedding-is-right-in-here” binder & told me to look through it and use anything I needed. The binder translated to my bible of wedding planning and Miss UVA set me up with everything I needed to make the process flow smoothly. She had pages full of inspiration (not to mention, this girl has impeccable taste), check-lists, budget worksheets, tear-outs, DIY ideas, etc. Anything I needed was right there and all my fears and stress were put to rest. Check out her blog…she’s hysterical, creative, and one of the most organized people I have ever met.

*Dangling my feet…i love to dangle my feet off the side of a dock or a swinging wooden bench…something about swinging them back and forth without feeling the ground underneath.

Great news…Turquoise is the color of 2010. When I found this out last night, I decided to take a walk around my house and photograph a few of my favorite turquoise treasures. Of course, I had to start with my wooden bowl full of turquoise semi-precious stones. In my closet, I found some wrapping paper I recently purchased from one of my favorite stores in Charlotte, Paper Skyscraper & a small turqoise table I have in my jewelry studio. A few years ago, I recovered 2 chairs with turqoise-based fabric & I’m in love with the turquoise bowls and plates I currently have on my wedding registry (we already have 2 sets)! I had to end the turquoise tour with a covered book full of Julia Child’s recipes…perhaps this evening i’ll master he Coq au vin!

“Pantone is pleased to announce PANTONE 15-5519 Turquoise, an inviting, luminous hue, as the Color of the Year for 2010. Combining the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green, Turquoise inspires thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a comforting escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing.”

Emily knew she wanted a simple ice blue dress for her bridesmaids paired with (her favorite) white ranunculus flowers, but when it came to her bridesmaid’s jewelry…she gave me complete freedom. I decided to draw the colors from the dress and flowers and combine it with a wire wrap necklace and earrings. I used light blue amazonite, freshwater pearls, hand blown glass, icy seed beads, and iced quartz to create earrings and a necklace to tie the dress and the flowers together. Perfect for her garden wedding this summer!

Hands down…this recipe is just yummy-in-my- tummy goodness. Yesterday, my (soon-to-be) sister in law hosted a jewelry trunk show for me in Athens, Ga at UGA & I just knew I had to bring a fabulous taste-bud awakening treat to share.

Have you ever been in this situation? Major problem #1: going to the bakery and choosing between a cookie or a brownie. Major problem #2: choosing a cookie, eating the cookie, and wishing you were eating the chocolate brownie instead. Final result: you end up going back to the bakery, eat the brownie (after you’ve already finished the unfulfilling cookie), and happily top off the brownie with a cold glass of milk.

So, this recipe eliminates those two problems and allows you to have both at once (including the heavenly chocolate ganache on top). Plus, it’s a big messy and gooey dessert and you end up licking your fingers for about an hour…savoring each flavor. Plus, the recipe is super easy! I’ve taken photos throughout the process just so you can see if you’re on the right path.

Not gonna lie…this recipe is straight from Betty Crocker and can be found here. The ganache is straight from (one of my faves) bakerella and can be found here. The photos and the promise that this dessert is “just. one. more. brownie. and. then. i’ll. stop….” that good is from me.

scooping the cookie dough in the brownie mixture

pushing down each cookie dough ball into the brownie mixure

hot out of the oven….this is a point that requires patience.

making the ganache…watching the morsels slowly melt into the butter and cream.

perfection

get in my tummy now.
