Transformations

It’s always fun when someone asks me to transform a piece of jewelry into something completely different from the original version.  We all have that one piece of jewelry that we hold on to because we like something about it or someone special gave it to us.  Every time we put it on, however, we think…if only that chain was a little shorter…if only it has a turquoise stone next to the locket…if only the band was in leather rather than gold…then, I would wear it and I would love it.  Recently a friend asked me to transform this bracelet from a gold ID bracelet with “forever” engraved into the gold, into something funkier with leather.  I switched out the gold band for a casual leather cord.  Perfect…problem solved.

Matthew Mullin Disc Necklace

mullinlg

This necklace is made in remembrance of Matthew Mullin.
16″ chain, 14K gold filled chain

“Matt signed all his emails and letters with live well, laugh often, love much. It was more than a closing, more than just a motto. It was how he lived. Matt used to say, “lose the morning, lose the day”. He made the most of every day– and truthfully, I’m not sure he would have any regrets about his life…How many of us could say that? I, am certainly not one of them, yet.” -Dickie Morris

RIngs

Here is a sneak peek of a ring design i’ve been working on for summer 2009…turquoise and gold…I hope you love the little ladybug.  Ladybugs are a symbol of good luck so I thought it wouldn’t hurt if you had one around your finger all the time.

Just a little Ditty

I met Dickie in college…she has the perfect mix of creativity, energy, passion, and strength… Her awesome blog reminds me take a moment each day to appreciate the little things in life that can bring joy.   I love how she gets a high from someone flipping a penny on the ground from tails to heads…for someone else to find it heads up and from witnessing someone walk down the street, alone, with a smile on their face.   I saw Dickie the other day and she told me about one of her closest friends that recently died.  I admire her strength and the way she shares with us the way that Matt impacted her life.  Dickie wrote about Matt on her blog:

“Matt signed all his emails and letters with live well, laugh often, love much. It was more than a closing, more than just a motto. It was how he lived. Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin this post, I already know I will not do Matt justice. All I really know, is that he came into my life for a reason– and luckily, I figured that out the moment I met him, not the moment he died. Matt used to say, “lose the morning, lose the day”. He made the most of every day– and truthfully, I’m not sure he would have any regrets about his life…How many of us could say that? I, am certainly not one of them, yet.”

Dickie asked me to design a necklace with three discs symbolizing the way that Matt signed all his e-mails and letters.   I wanted to share it with you…

Delicates

I’ve been inspired by long and delicate designs that can be worn and layered with other necklaces.  Here is one i’ve been working on…delicate1_blog.jpg

A few more!

Who would have thought that artichokes, tea cups,  rusty stars, chili peppers, watering cans, potatoes and grapefruit would blend with gold, silver, and semi-precious stones? shoot_94.jpg shoot_8.jpgshoot_11.jpgshoot_14.jpg  photo_13.jpgshoot_10.jpg   shoot_15.jpgshoot_16.jpgshoot_17.jpg

In a different light!

I had the best time with photographer, Meg Runion. We spent Sunday afternoon pairing my jewelry with fruits, vegetables, antiques, boots, flowers, and other unique objects. Check out these photos! shoot_1.jpgshoot_2.jpgshoot_3.jpg shoot_4.jpgshoot_5.jpg shoot_6.jpg shoot_7.jpg
