keychain

I love designing the disc necklaces and I was really excited when I had a request for  a sterling silver men’s keychain.  I had never made a keychain before, but I was up for the challenge!   I really enjoyed designing the keychain and i’m going to incorporate it into my collection.  It was fun to use the same hammered/handmade look that the discs have, but to make it on a larger scale.  The disc is about the size of a half dollar.  I actually even made another one for my husband’s birthday this past weekend.  Valentine’s Day is coming up, ladies & this would be a great gift to get your sweetheart!  You could have a sweet message engraved in the back of the keychain and his initials on the front.  You can find the keychain here!

Solitary Necklace

I remember when I was about eight years old & my mother handed me a wrapped box for my birthday gift. When I opened it, I was so excited to see a delicate freshwater pearl necklace similar to this one. I put it on & didn’t take it off for years. To this day, I still wear that same necklace from time-to-time & it reminds me of my first “real piece of jewelry.” This necklace is the perfect choice for a little girl that is ready for just that…. her first big girl necklace. A white freshwater coin pearl dangles from a sterling silver chain.

Hope Bracelet

On October 21, 2010, I was honored to be part of a truly special event held in Concord, Mass. called Runway for Recovery.  Roughly 30 men and& women — both survivors as well as the children of those who have passed away proudly walked down the runway in Concord, Mass. & were honored for their strength, determination, optimism and passion. Proceeds from the event went to help children who have lost their mothers to the disease as well as provide opportunities for health care providers who care for such patients.   During the months leading up to the event, I contacted several of the models to hear their “story” & I designed this bracelet to honor the heroes that have been affected by cancer.  The bracelet is made of sterling silver  & a sterling silver disc and piece of pink coral dangles from the bracelet.   Coral symbolizes life and pink coral is said to bring harmony to the heart.  The disc has the word “hope” on one side & “love” on the other side.  From the stories and experiences these models shared with me, I felt as if the two words “hope & love” boil down the essence of their experience.

Constellation Necklace

“I’m like a falling star who has finally found her place next to another in a lovely constellation where we will sparkle in the heavens together.” -Amy Tan

I’ve always loved constellations: Cassiopeia, Orion, Libra & Aquarious…each one is a mystery to me.  I’m sure everyone has at least one memory looking up at the stars and wishing upon one…just hoping that that wish would come true.  When I was young, all the neighborhood kids would catch lightening bugs in our front yard and put them in Mason jars with holes on top & a few blades of grass inside.  Afterward, we’d look up at the sky and tell each other that the stars were just a gigantic cluster of lightening bugs.  Later, I learned about the stars and how to find the constellations by first finding the North Star.

Recently, I made the first pendant of the Constellation series.  This pendant only has two “stars” in it’s constellation & I made it for myself to symbolize Bryan and me.  I made the “stars” out of turquoise & placed them right next to one another.  I’m looking forward to designing larger pendants and cuffs with actual constellations made from semi-precious stones.

Graduation Gifts

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I really enjoyed designing these disc bracelets for graduation gifts. The word on the bracelet is, “Revez,” which means “dream” in French. The gifts will be given by a French teacher to her senior students. The teacher loves the book, The Little Prince (one of my favorites too). The book is full of life lessons and I often re-read it at different times of my life. I just love how her students will always have a token to carry with them throughout the years & to remind them to dream…and, dream big.

The Santorini Earrings

A brand new design… an oval piece of turquoise hangs from two intertwining circles of coral beach glass…perfect for the summer sun!  Pair them up with this little dress from tibi and you’re set!

“You can wear the earrings with anything…even lime green.”

Anne-Cabot (my little fashionista) stopped by my house this morning & I was immediately impressed by her pairing of my Isabella earrings with her lime-green shirt.  Many times, customers ask, “I love these earrings, but what can I wear them with?”  I seem to always say, “You’ll be surprised, try them on and you probably won’t take them off.”  I use all semi-precious stones, fresh-water pearls, 14K-gold filled, sterling silver glass & and other type of material that catches my eye & easily blends with colors and fabrics.  If you’re a classic dresser or some-what of a risk-taker, there is something for everyone. I even give texture to my metals by hammering them and giving them a “brushed” look  so that the light will hit the piece and give off a shade that matches both, gold and silver.  I had to shoot a few photos of Anne-Cabot wearing a few different styles of earrings just to show how any of the pieces will match with a color (even a color as difficult as lime green).

Jami Masters School of Dance

I just finished designing 24 disc necklaces for the 10 yr. dancers at Jami Masters School of Dance in Charlotte, NC.  Jami thought of this great gift to give her 24 students who have been when her for 10 years…personalized disc necklaces.  I hammered the the front of each disc and  engraved the letters: JMSD (Jami Masters School of Dance).  On the back of each disc, I hand-brushed each one and engraved 10 years around the bottom.   I hope that the dancers will love them!
