Big News, Bella…

I’m back!!!  Sorry for the absence, but this has been a crazy week!  I can’t wait to share some big news with everyone.  Recently, I was approved to have my jewelry in the Bella Bridesmaids’ stores.  If you are getting married & haven’t been to one of these chic boutiques, you might want to add it to your “to do” list.   There are almost 40 Bella Bridesmaids’ stores nation-wide and many more to come…

Erin McDermott Jewelry line will be in Bella stores this fall, so pop in a take a look at my collection.

Green with Envy

When I started designing jewelry, I would have never imagined that the wedding jewelry would have been such a huge part of my business! I’m honored to be able to work with so many inspiring brides & to design the perfect pieces for their wedding day. Although I work with the brides on the details, I always get a thrill when I see the final product on the actual wedding day. I loved how Sarah Bannon paired the Whitney earrings with these green dresses…
Amelia Ann Photography did an incredible job capturing the magic on the big day.

Jane-Garnet Earrings

When Jane-Garnet asked me to design 10 pairs of bridesmaids’ earrings for her wedding on July 10th, I was excited to see what she would we would come up with.   The girls are wearing short ice blue dresses (with pockets…love it), freshwater pearl necklaces, and gold shoes.  Jane-Garnet was thinking that post earrings would be better than a dangle…something similar to a freshwater pearl & seed bead cluster.   With a little experimentation, creativity, and luck…I came up with this pearl cluster.  I think this is going to become one of my favorites…I love the elegent & vintage look.

Gretchen

I met Gretchen while I was in The Curry School at UVA.  I instantly liked this chica…she was sarcastic with a dry sense of humor, loyal, honest, & made me laugh way too much. Gretchen always dreamt of getting married, planning a big “poofy” wedding (with loads of pink), and having lots & lots of babies.  You can imagine my excitement when she called me to tell me that she was engaged, and was about to start planning her  fairy-tale wedding.  First things first…the wedding jewelry.   I designed a pair of custom freshwater pearl earrings for her & she chose the chardonnay pearl necklace to wear around her neck (simple, yet elegant.) She looks gorgeous. Now, Mrs. Gretchen…on to babies, right?

Delicate Drops

It made my day when Molly Ashworth came to pick up her bridesmaids jewelry today and joyfully said, “Erin, thank you for seeing my vision.”  She wanted something delicate to match her ice blue bridesmaids dresses and I think we came up with just the  perfect set…

Simply Stated Specks of Champagne…

I just finished four pairs of bridesmaids’ earrings to match this dress by Jenny Yoo.  The bride actually chose the clover green color for the bridesmaid’s dress, but these elegant earrings would really match with any of the colors.  The earrings are made from sterling silver, freshwater pearls, and champagne quartz.

A “Charm”ed Wedding

Lauren Moyihan wanted something different for her bridesmaids….something that brought back the memories she shared with them.  I asked her to describe each bridesmaid & to tell me any funny/memorable anecdotes. Lauren and I sat down for an hour and I listened to how each of these girls played an important role in her life.  She told me about the many adventures she shared with the girls and how she was so lucky to have such incredible friends.   Together, we thought of a small sterling silver charm that represented a memory she had from each friend.  We paired the sterling silver charms with a small sterling silver initial disc and a piece of coral.

Katheryn Cella’s wedding earrings

I met Katheryn a while ago at “book club” and we bonded over the dilemma of finding the perfect pair of earrings to wear on your wedding day.  Katheryn knew that she wanted something to make a statement but not overpower her dress.  She also knew that she wanted some mix of freshwater pearls and gold & a pair of earring she could wear after the wedding and beyond.  I sketched out a few designs for her to see & she decided on this dangle style.  Katheryn tried on the earrings a few day ago, and voila…perfection.

delicate elegance

I love the way freshwater pearls look with the mix of these colors…delicate, elegant, classic.  You just cannot go wrong.

Thanks for the inspiration, Jessica Claire…lovely flowers, fresh pomegrantes and to-die-for manolos…

a touch of beauty…

My friend and photographer, Meg Runion, came down to Charlotte to take a few photos of my bridal jewelry in action….trying to pick my favorite…

Iced Robbins’ eggs and Ranunculus

Emily knew she wanted a simple ice blue dress for her bridesmaids paired with (her favorite) white ranunculus flowers, but when it came to her bridesmaid’s jewelry…she gave me complete freedom.  I decided to draw the colors from the dress and flowers and combine it with a wire wrap necklace and earrings.  I used light blue amazonite, freshwater pearls, hand blown glass, icy seed beads, and iced quartz to create earrings and a necklace to tie the dress and the flowers together.  Perfect for her garden wedding this summer!

Gold Nest Earrings

Artistic gold nests dangle lightly and delicately from the ear.

Gold filled and wire-wrapped earrings. A little bit of elegance and a little bit of nature. Tiger’s eye and turquoise stones weave in and out of an organically shaped gold-filled teardrop.

Santa Barbara, Shells, Satin & Sofia

Helena & Jeff are having a destination wedding in Santa Barbara at the end of May & I couldn’t be more excited for both of them.   When I asked Helena to send me a few photos of her vision, she sent me this dress and the wine they’ll be serving.  She mentioned that she would love to bring wire-wrapping, shells, silver & coral into her bridesmaids’ earrings and the rest is up to me.  I did my best to whip up a style of earrings that would match the location and her vision.  Organic yet elegant.

Simple, Classic, Elegant…Freshwater Pearls

You just can’t go wrong with freshwater pearls…especially when you can take several pearls and create 7 different looks.  All similar, but each one has it’s own charm.  It can be difficult to create 7 pairs of earrings that each bridesmaid will fall in love with – a few like short earrings, a few like something a little longer and the rest fall somewhere in between. Amanda Retig has seven bridesmaids and she chose a mixture of freshwater pearl designs for her girls.  Each one fits their personality & they all blend beautifully together.

Beach Bridal

What  could 8 bridesmaids wear for an evening wedding on the beach?  Eleanor Coffey has the right idea for her bridesmaids:  A Margarita short dress by Calypso St. Barth & a unique hand-crafted pair of gold, turquoise, and tiger’s eye earrings from Erin McDermott.   Elegant and relaxed.

A Black Tie Wedding

I just finished Whitney Smiths’ bridal jewelry & i’m thrilled by the finished product.  Whitney came to me with a pair of earrings she had purchased at a boutique years ago.  She loved the look of the earrings and wanted that same the wire-wrapping technique, but a different shape and different stones.  Together, we thought up the perfect pair of earrings for her black-tie wedding.  She knew she wanted something funky, unique, and bold to tone down the formal feeling of the wedding.  I love them & I hope her 9 bridesmaids will too.

The decision is made…

Maria decided on a gold and freshwater pearl necklace for her bridesmaids and I think that this was a great choice.  The girls will each be wearing a gorgeous dark purple strapless dress and Maria wanted something that would fill in the void left from the strapless dress.  I can’t wait to see photos from the wedding!
