Holiday Shows…

Good evening all you wonderful lovelies!  Oh, how much joy it brings me to finally sit down the night before Thanksgiving and thank you all for your support these past two weeks while I’ve been traveling for a whirlwind of holiday jewelry shows.  I feel so grateful for each of you and appreciate (so so very much…oh so much)  your love and support with my jewelry. A special thanks to Anna Moore, Kate Fitzgerald, Amy Schaaf, Liz Schoening, and Katheryn Cella Woodruff for hosting jewelry shows. Thank you also to Hampton Stationery, The Jr. League Mistletoe Market, and the awesome girls for the Holiday Craft show. Round 2 starts up again after Thanksgiving, but I’m so excited to relax this week, spend lots of time with friends and family, and eats lots of pumpkin pie!

Thanks again to Dickie Morris, Meg Runion, and Cary Oliva who participated in the Holiday Craft Show last week!

Transformations…

A bride recently came to me with dozens of strands of her grandmother’s jewelry and asked if I would be able to take everything apart and create a unique necklace for her on her wedding day. She wasn’t sure exactly what she had in mind, but she knew that she wanted it to make a statement. I started taking apart the strands of pearls, shells, stones and silver beads and started restringing them in different patterns and lengths. I also painted her grandmother’s bright green broach silver, but left the green center showing.   She picked it up yesterday & I was so excited to see her reaction.  Her wedding is quickly approaching, so I’ll make sure to blog photos of her on her special day.

sunday list

  • When your plane touches down on the runway.
  • Finding a hair-tie or bobby pin in between your couch cushion right when you really need it.
  • Chilling a bottle of champagne in the snow.
  • Thinking about how far you’ve come from your first job (mine was an ice cream scooper at Baskin Robbins in Colonial Williamsburg).
  • Listening to a graduation speech that really rings a bell with you.
  • Movie previews.
  • Finding a pen in your purse when you need to fill out a form.
  • When someone pulls up to you at a stoplight and asks for directions and you know exactly how to get them there.
  • Walking through the neighborhood and seeing lit and decorated Christmas trees through the windows.
  • An older couple holding hands underneath their table at a restaurant.

Happy Friday!

What a night…

I just wanted to send a huge thanks out to all the people involved with Runway for Recovery this year. I was so grateful to be part of this amazing evening. Runway for Recovery creates a stage for friends and family who have battled breast cancer (both survivors and the children of those who have passed). Several retailers and designers (including Erin McDermott Jewelry) set up trunk shows before and after the event with a portion of our proceeds going to help families who have lost their mothers to breast cancer.

Here are a few articles written about the event:

Sunday Night List

  • Picking out the perfect tortilla chip with just the perfect amount of all the fixings off a plate of nachos.
  • Deferring to rock-paper-scissors to settle a dispute.
  • Using shampoos and conditioners that you’ve never tried before in a friend’s shower.
  • When you’re waiting in a long check-out line in the grocery store and another cashier opens up a new lane and you’re the first one in it.
  • Perfectly parking in a parallel parking space on your first try.
  • Gently blowing the one eyelash off your finger and making a wish.
  • The smell in an old-fashioned bakery.
  • Wondering how many people used to blow into the cartridges of their Nintendo games when they wouldn’t work.
  • Talking about how much money the dinner that you made at home would cost in a restaurant.
  • When your hiccups finally stop.

Runway for Recovery

One of my most memorable experiences last year was participating in an event Runway for Recovery in Concord, MA.  This organization honors women who have battled, survived and have passed from breast cancer. Olivia Achtmeyer started the event in 2007 after losing her mother to breast cancer.  Tonight, survivors will “walk” the runway and be honored for their strength and attitude.  I’m so excited that they will be wearing Erin McDermott jewelry and I will also be having a trunk show with a portion of the proceeds helping children who have lost their mothers and providing opportunities for health care providers who care for such patients.  Here are a few photos from last year!

Martha’s Market

Woah…what a whirlwind of a weekend.  The trunk show season has officially started and I just returned from Martha’s Market in Charlottesville, VA. Martha’s Market is put on by the Women’s Committee of Martha Jefferson Hospital and over the past 18 years, Martha’s Market has raised over 3 million dollars towards women’s healthcare. I was one of 65 vendors across the US who had the opportunity to participate in this 4 day event.  Incredible event with a wonderful team of supporters.

Thankfully, my mom was able to help me with the show and simply put, she was a rock star. She helped with my entire display, bringing curly willow branches, vintage scales and glass bottles, French linens, lamps, burlap, scarves, and other unique display items.  I posted a pic. below. We had an amazing time and can’t wait until next year.  I’m off to Boston tomorrow morning to participate in Runway for Recovery...can’t wait to tell you all about it when I return!

My Sweet Sukie

I took this photo of my little (well…not so little anymore) bulldog right after she had just gotten up from a nap.  She’s so sweet, it’s really amazing that I can get anything done during the day.
